About Kept's answers
Kept is a fast way to find what your own documents say. It isn't legal, security or HR advice.
How Kept answers
- Kept searches only the documents you've added, then an AI model on your Mac writes a short answer from the passages it found.
- Each answer shows its sources: the document, page and passage. If nothing in your documents answers the question, Kept says so instead of guessing.
- Kept follows the instructions you give it in Settings → General → Instructions.
What to keep in mind
- AI can make mistakes. It can misread a passage, miss an exception or combine two rules wrongly. Check the source before relying on an answer, especially for numbers, dates, deadlines and fees.
- Answers are only as current as your documents. If a policy changed, update the document in Kept.
- Text read from scans can contain recognition errors. Kept marks these documents "Ready · from scan".
- Not professional advice. Kept tells you what your documents say, not what you should do. Decisions about legal, security, people or money matters stay with the people responsible for them.
- Use "Mark as wrong" on answers that are wrong. Kept keeps this feedback on your Mac, to help you spot documents that need clarifying.
